Plats are required when land is subdivided into three or parcels and for some commercial developments. The plat must be reviewed and approved by Mecklenburg County Land Development and by the associated Town before being recorded at the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds.

Land development is guided by ordinances covering zoning, floodplain management, erosion control and storm water management

Mecklenburg County Land Development utilizes Accela for all plan and plat reviews, floodplain and erosion control permits, as-built surveys, and bonds. All the business we formerly conducted in EPM we now conduct in Accela. 

During land development projects, project bonds are a funding mechanism to ensure that monies are available to complete public improvements once development begins. 

Responsible for making recommendations to improve the health and well-being of Mecklenburg County residents with emphasis on children, seniors and families.

An as-built survey is required for storm drainage, impervious area and storm drainage BMPs.

Revaluation is the process where all property (land and buildings) is revalued to its current market value as of January 1.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is a division of the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office. The division supports the County manager and Board of County Commissioners in the development of the County’s annual operating budget and coordinates with community and business partners to develop service agreements for the County’s key initiatives.   

Air Quality, a division of the Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA), works to improve air quality across the region by conducting air monitoring activities, managing emission reduction programs, and overseeing permitting and compliance measures.
