The Queen Anne styled Overcarsh House in Fourth Ward is one of uptown Charlotte’s two oldest homes. 

Charlotte’s largest 19th-century textile mill and anchor for Belmont, the city’s first blue-collar neighborhood.

One of Charlotte’s most unique early twentieth-century apartment houses quickly fell victim to the effects of the Great Depression.

The John W. Sheppard House was the home of one of the nation’s first university-trained professional pharmacists. 

The Seaboard Air Line Railroad Passenger Terminal is Charlotte’s only surviving nineteenth-century railroad passenger terminal. 

The Second Ward High School Gymnasium is the only surviving building from that school and one of the last structures of the Brooklyn neighborhood. 

A portion of the Sloan-Davidson House, one of Fourth Ward’s few original homes, dates back to 1820. 

Prominent Charlotte architect William Peeps designed the home of Armature Winding Company partner George F. Stratton. 

Officially known as the Memorial Chapel of St. Mary the Virgin, the chapel is the oldest remaining building of the Thompson Orphanage and Training Institution.
